RYAN REMIORZ\/THE CANADIAN\nPRESS<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Canadian\nNational Railway conductors, trainpersons and yardpersons have threatened to\nlaunch a strike in three weeks after six months of negotiations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nTeamsters Canada Rail Conference disclosed Monday that its 3,000 members voted\n99.2 per cent last month in favor of a strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A strike\ncould begin at 12:01 a.m. on Nov. 19, after the union provides at least 72\nhours notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The union\nis trying to put pressure on the Montreal-based railway ahead of a resumption\nof negotiations with the help of federal mediators on Nov. 12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nworkers, who are mostly located in major urban centers across Canada, have been\nwithout a contract since July 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CN Rail\nlowered its forecasts last week by pointing to a deterioration in North\nAmerican rail demand and a further slowdown in the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCN remains committed to working with the TCRC and is optimistic that an agreement will be reached,\u201d a CN Rail spokesman said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"http:\/\/www.bocintl.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/The-BOC-Blast-221-1-24-18-1-1024x94.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-641 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1024px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1024\/94;\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Around 3,000 CN Rail workers threaten to launch national strike in November MONTREAL, THE CANADIAN PRESS, PUBLISHED 1 DAY AGO CN Rail employees represented by the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference voted last month in favor of a strike.
