{"id":756,"date":"2018-06-18T19:48:05","date_gmt":"2018-06-18T19:48:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bocintl.com\/en\/?p=756"},"modified":"2018-06-18T19:48:05","modified_gmt":"2018-06-18T19:48:05","slug":"the-boc-blast-243-under-section-301-action-ustr-releases-proposed-tariff-list-on-chinese-products","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bocintl.com\/web\/the-boc-blast-243-under-section-301-action-ustr-releases-proposed-tariff-list-on-chinese-products\/","title":{"rendered":"The BOC Blast 243 \u2013 Under Section 301 Action,\u00a0 USTR Releases Proposed Tariff List On Chinese Products"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-746\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bocintl.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Imagen6.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1115\" height=\"302\" \/><br \/>\n<b>Under Section <\/b><b>301 <\/b><b>Action,\u00a0 USTR Releases Proposed Tariff List On Chinese Products<\/b><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nWASHINGTON, DC \u2013 As part of the U.S. response to China\u2019s unfair trade practices related to the forced transfer of U.S. technology and intellectual property, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) today published a proposed list of products imported from China that could be subject to additional tariffs.<br \/>\nFollowing USTR\u2019s Section 301 investigation, President Trump announced in March that the United States will impose tariffs on approximately $50 billion worth of Chinese imports and take other actions in response to China\u2019s policies that coerce American companies into transferring their technology and intellectual property to domestic Chinese enterprises.\u00a0 These policies bolster China\u2019s stated intention of seizing economic leadership in advanced technology as set forth in its industrial plans, such as \u201cMade in China 2025.\u201d<br \/>\nThe proposed list of products is based on extensive interagency economic analysis and would target products that benefit from China\u2019s industrial plans while minimizing the impact on the U.S. economy.\u00a0 Sectors subject to the proposed tariffs include industries such as aerospace, information and communication technology, robotics, and machinery.<br \/>\nThe proposed list covers approximately 1,300 separate tariff lines and will undergo further review in a public notice and comment process, including a hearing.\u00a0 After completion of this process, USTR will issue a final determination on the products subject to the additional duties.<br \/>\nThe total value of imports subject to the tariff increase is commensurate with an economic analysis of the harm caused by China\u2019s unreasonable technology transfer policies to the U.S. economy, as covered by USTR\u2019s Section 301 investigation.<br \/>\nToday\u2019s announcement comes just days after the USTR filed a request for consultations with China at the World Trade Organization (WTO) to address China\u2019s discriminatory technology licensing requirements.\u00a0 Such consultations are the first step in the WTO dispute settlement process.\u00a0 If the United States and China are unable to reach a solution through consultations, the United States may request the establishment of a WTO dispute settlement panel to review the matter.<br \/>\nhttps:\/\/ustr.gov\/about-us\/policy-offices\/press-office\/press-releases\/2018\/april\/under-section-301-action-ustr<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-641 lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/www.bocintl.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/The-BOC-Blast-221-1-24-18-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1125\" height=\"103\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1125px;
